APSAD (French plenary assembly of damage insurance companies):

Collective mark granted by the French National Centre for Prevention and Protection (insurance certifying body). The APSAD certification is granted to companies following audits, knowledge assessments and installation checks. APSAD-certified companies alone are entitled to issue conformity certificates (certifications numbered 1 and more).

Omnibus insurance:

Guarantee provided by the insured party concerning buildings and/or movable goods on behalf of their owner(s).

The installation of mobile extinguishers must comply with rule R4, must have led to conformity certificate N4 and must be able to provide a Q4 periodic verification certificate.

Access Building:

The term "public" includes all those admitted into the building - regardless of the reason - in addition to normal staff (Art. R.123.2 of the Construction Code)

Preliminary estimate:

Estimated value of the goods ensured prior to the claim, assessed by an appraiser specialised in insurance.

Withdrawal expenses:

If a product delivered by the insured party has caused or is likely to cause personal and/or material damage, this guarantee covers all ensuing costs.

Storage height:

Insurers consider that storage heights higher than 7.20 m lead to increased heat load and thus increased fire risks.

Common interests:

Situation in which the tenant owns units or shares within the company that owns the building and/or the owner of the building has units or shares within the company renting the buildings.

Contractual benefit limit:

An operational threshold for the compensation of operating losses can be set by the insurer and must be specified in the contract. It is expressed as a percentage of the annual gross margin.

Fire permit:

Document issued before work conducted in hot spots, with a view to preventing fire and explosion hazards.

Loss of use:

Corresponds to the rental value of the premises occupied by the owner, should the latter not be able to occupy them following damage.

Operating loss:

This guarantee ensures coverage - following damage - of the fixed costs incurred during the activity stoppage or decrease period, as well as of the benefits that would have been made during said period.

Flash point:

Minimum temperature to which a flammable liquid must be brought for the fumes to catch fire in the presence of a flame.

Civil liability after delivery/before delivery:

Covers any damage to third parties attributable to the insured party's activities after/before the delivery of good or the provision of a service.

Waiver of recourse

The lease contract concluded between the lessor and the lessee states the circumstances in which both parties agree never to invoke their rights against the co-contractor.

Maximum Foreseeable Loss (MFL):

Loss incurred in the most unfavourable circumstances.

Building surface area:

Surface area obtained by totalling (for each building) all ground-floor surface areas as well as those of all upper floors, wall thickness included.

Infrared thermography:

This process consists in remotely measuring surface temperatures using a camera, to detect abnormal heat spots that could lead to incidents (short circuit, fire break-out, etc.)

Market value of the business:

Payment that compensates for the loss of customers, lease premium and right to lease for a tenant, if the business cannot be rebuilt in its original place.

Appraiser fee assistance, your "appraiser fee" insurance guaranteed. The fees charged by the selected appraiser: if you suffered damage covered by a "Protect your assets" or "Post-damage operating loss" guarantee, we undertake to reimburse (provided substantiating documents are shown) the fees charges by the appraiser you chose and directly appointed to assess the cost of the damage resulting from the incident.
